Black Oak Strategy

The Quercus Velutina

Our Story

Quercus velutina—the black oak—is a species of oak tree native to southern Ontario and widespread in eastern and central North America.

Toronto's High Park is home to one of the last remaining significant black oak savannah ecosystems in Ontario and North America. This habitat provides the living symbol that defines our firm and what we offer clients.

Quercus velutina is strong and durable. Black oaks in High Park are well-adapted to attack due to their thick, fire-resistant bark. Many are over 150 years old, and this savannah ecosystem is estimated to be about 4,000 years old. Black oaks are resilient. They last. They withstand fire and drought. They are a testament to endurance and growth.

More than ever, reputations are vulnerable to attack. Crises are everywhere. The issues you have to manage are many. Black oaks endure; you should too.
